Overview

Heart disease and related disease of blood vessels results in more death than any other disease. If you have diabetes, or high blood pressure or high cholesterol, smoke, or have a family history of premature heart disease, you maybe at risk for a heart attack, stroke or death.

 

What is your risk and how to manage it? Do you need medications or if you are already taking some medications, are you taking the right ones based on available scientific evidence?

 

Who should be screened? - For heart disease

  • Men >40 and women >50 or postmenopausal women
  • Anyone with diabetes
  • Anyone with family history of premature (age <60) cardiovascular disease
  • Anyone with treated hypertension
  • Anyone with central obesity
  • Anyone with kidney disease (eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m2)
  • Anyone with an immune disorder (RA, SLE, psoriasis)
  • Anyone with HIV
